How to Use Your Digital Camera: The Basics

Learn about the use of the mode dial, and the different menus. Learn the meaning of the camera icons and how to use them properly to take different types of photos. Learn how to transfer photographs to a  computer. Learn basic photographic composition and the types of creative uses of a digital camera for taking portraits, landscapes, wildlife photography, documentation of current events and much more.

Using Your Digital Camera
Beyond the Basics

This class is for those who wish to learn more about their Digital Single Lens Reflex, (DSLR) interchangeable lens camera.  In this class, features such as Program, Aperture, Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manuel modes will be explored.  The class will also cover f/stop, exposure, shutter speed, white balance, and bracketing. This class includes hands-on camera work through a Saturday field trip/photo shoot to practice all the topics covered in class. Students will provide their own transportation.

The students will bring their camera and camera manuals. They will have hands on practice in the following areas: Camera modes, image quality settings, shutter releases, focusing modes, area of the frame, flash modes, white balance, metering modes, the exposure triangle and histograms.

Lightroom Overview

NEW for Fall 2018! This course will be a general overview of Lightroom and how it can help photographers in organizing and editing their photos. All the different modules will be explained with the emphasis on the library and development modules. This will include how the screens for each are used. Students can bring a laptop with a trial version of Lightroom (free limited 7 day version available at Adobe.com). This would be helpful not necessary.

Basic Soft-Box Photography Lighting

New for winter 2019: Learn basic hands on use of the soft box lighting, and reflectors. This class will challenge your skills in photography, teamwork, while learning how to do basic lighting patterns such as split lighting, Rembrandt, and Loop lighting. Also use of a light tent.
