There are five different pathways that can be pursued through the OCCC/WOU elementary/middle teacher preparation pathway:
1. Elementary/Middle Mathematics
2. Elementary/Middle Science
3. Elementary/Middle Social Studies
4. Elementary/Middle Language Arts
5. Elementary/Middle Spanish
All students in these pathways will be qualified to teach in an elementary school across all of the four core subjects. In addition, each student will choose one of the subject areas above in order to be qualified to teach that subject in a middle school.
Students can earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Education, including an initial Oregon Teaching License in four years. During the first three years, students complete required general education, teaching content courses, and pre-education courses. During their final year, they complete the Professional Licensure Program – visit WOU’s advising page for this program for additional information.
